The Chongqing-based automaker said via its WeChat account that it will join hands with BOE to develop curved console-mounted screens, flexible transparent A-pillars, transparent window displays and other innovative products powered by global cutting-edge display technologies.
“Through the strategic collaboration with BOE, we will leverage respective advantages in technologies and products to provide users with brilliant intelligent interactive cockpits and brand new driving and riding experience, and help Chinese automotive industry make breakthroughs in intelligent technologies,” said Zhu Huarong, chairman of Changan Automobile.
Under the agreement, both parties will co-build an innovative lab that focuses on exploring the intelligent cockpit display technologies, in-car terminal products and intelligent cockpit-used scenarios, and researching users’ behaviors.
By means of the lab, the automaker and the IoT solution provider plan to team up on brand alliance, product supply and investment in intelligence industry, and co-work on developing next-generation cabin displays.
Moreover, the two companies will deepen the cooperation on the automotive electronics field to create new business models. They will also come closer to seek business opportunities in the fields like industrial internet and smart industrial park.
Changan Automobile has partnered with a slew of leading tech companies, such as Huawei, AutoNavi, Tencent, IBM and iFlytek, to develop its smart businesses. Additionally, the automaker also ties up with governmental agencies, communications service providers, real estate companies and mobile service platforms to form its multi-layered transportation ecosystem.
